Boulder Dash Classic is a 1-to-1 adaption of the classic Commodore 64 blockbuster arcade game for mobile cell phones.
In 1984 First Star Software released a little Game called Boulder Dash. The author of this Game was Peter Liepa.
Boulder Dash is an action-strategic-based game with poor graphic and music. Your mission is to guide an ant-like little boy called Rockford through a maze-like Cave. All you have to do is to collect a special amount of diamonds. Once you collected the required amount of diamonds an Exit-Door will open up which guide you through right into the next Level. Every 500 Points you gain a Bonus-Life. Some Levels are called "Intermissions". Intermissions are small Bonus-Levels and are normally not hard to complete. Every time you enter an Intermission-Level you gain a special Bonus-Life. It's an easy mission to just collect some diamonds and find the exit-door. But there are many features that makes completing the Levels sometimes very very difficult. There are walls and boulders which can block your way through the maze. There are fireflies which explode when touched by Rockford. Or there are butter-flies which explode like the fireflies when touched, but they convert into 9 diamonds. There are furthermore magic walls which convert boulders to diamonds and diamonds to boulders when they are falling through, or there are growing walls which grow when there's no dirt to stop it. There are so many special physical rules to discover and to use to complete a cave. Oh, don't forget about the amoebia, a strange-like bio-something and gro-wing slime which converts (when not blocked) after a special time into boulders or (when blocked) into diamonds. This Game contains no upgrades, no special features, music or graphic. There are no secret areas to discover and only two different enemies - the butterfly and the firefly. Boulder Dash is a very special Game. You know what I mean when you already know this Game. If not, you have to discover the special feeling of this Game by yourself. It's so special to discover the Caves and Inter-missions, to complete a Cave and to rush into the next one. The poor but very special sound-effects (for example when boulders and diamonds are falling down) are part of the special-feeling of Boulder Dash.
There are still some Boulder Dash Freaks which create new Levels and Games with the Construction Kit.
